Tatts me out of here

By Lia Bichel
AN elderly driver was lucky that his number wasn’t up, after crashing into a Tatts outlet.
Shop attendants and the Berwick motorist escaped without injuries after the car smashed through the window of the Parkhill Plaza store last week.
Police said that at 12.20pm on 14 April, the elderly man “misjudged’ the parking spot and drove though Tatts, where two people were working and one person was shopping.
Tatts owner Patricia Mernica was in the back room of the shop when she heard a loud crash and then saw the car in her shop.
She rushed to the driver’s aid to make sure he was okay. She said there was a man at the counter at the time and he was “very lucky.”
Shop attendant Debbie Clarke, who said she was “shaken up” after the ordeal. “It was so scary,” she said. “I am surprised no-one was killed.”
Police issued a warning to drivers to take care when parking, and to know their surroundings.
Police said they would be reviewing the man’s licence.
