PROMINENT local identity and Yakkerboo Festival regular Graeme Moore has been elected as Cardinia Shire Council’s new Bunyip Ward Councillor.
With the retirement of previous councillor Bill Pearson, Cr Moore was appointed in a recent by-election.
A dedicated member of the community, he has lived in the area for 26 years and is renowned for his support of local activities including the Pakenham Show, Yakkerboo Festival and Rotary.
While he operates a successful engineering business and is married with three children, Cr Moore is excited about the challenge of his new role and believes that open communication and good negotiating skills are necessary to helping the community he represents.
“I am keen to identify local concerns and bring these challenges to the council table to find solutions,” he said.
Mayor George Blenkhorn congratulated Cr Moore on his appointment and is looking forward to working with him to improve both the Bunyip Ward and the entire Cardinia Shire.
“This council is now over halfway through our four-year term and we welcome Cr Moore aboard. He has close connections with his local community and this will prove valuable as council continues its work on some very significant projects.
“The Bunyip Food Belt, the relocation of Pakenham Racing Club to Tynong, flood recovery efforts and managing the needs of our rural and urban communities are just some of the issues that will keep council busy over the next 18 months.
“Cr Moore will play a valuable role in helping us set our direction on these and many more projects.”
