ELECTRICIAN Daniel Maher doesn’t have a beauty regime – he just “works hard and plays hard.”
The Berwick resident, 30, is in the running to win the third annual Australia’s Hottest Tradie competition, run by Australia’s largest dating site, RSVP.
Mr Maher owns Electrical Innovations.
The tradie made it to the top five spots of the competition last year and said he has his eyes on the prize – a Toyota Hilux ute – this year.
“That would be the dream, but I am happy just to do it for fun,” he said.
Entries have been open for less than three weeks, and already more than 320 tradesmen and women from around the nation have entered the competition.
This year, due to popular demand from ladies of all ages, a new Master Tradesmen category has been introduced, opening the competition up to tradies aged over 35.
RSVP spokesperson Lija Jarvis encouraged tradesmen to enter and Victorians to vote.
“It’s time to support your state and also to make sure local hot tradies are encouraged to enter,” Ms Jarvis said.
“The popularity of tradies is clear and last year’s competition saw more than 250,000 votes cast by the Australian public before the five finalists and national winner were announced.
“This year, many of the tradies are campaigning for votes with fans popping up all over Facebook and showing their support for favourites.”
Tradesmen from across Victoria can enter the competition online at www.hottesttradie. com.au and voting is open until midnight on 8 March.
The Victoria/Tasmania regional event will take place on 29 March at the Precinct Hotel in Melbourne. The state winner from each region will go on to compete for the national title at the grand final in Sydney in April.
