Citizens rewarded

FOUR exceptional Casey citizens and two community groups were honoured for their contributions through 2010 a special Australia Day ceremony last week.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes officiated at the event and congratulated all the Casey Citizen of the Year Award nominees and winners for their outstanding dedication and involvement in the City of Casey.
“The 2011 Casey Citizens of the Year Awards, along with the Casey Community Event/ Activity of the Year Awards for 2010, recognise the outstanding contributions made by a variety of residents, from all walks of life and across a range of areas, to improv-ing the community in which we live,” Councillor Balmes said.
“It is marvellous to recognise and reward the fantastic contribution of these pillars of society who, through their hard work and co-operative spirit, ensure Casey is a thriving community where residents have a strong sense of identity and pride,” she said.
The successful City of Casey Australia Day Study Tour recipients were also recognised at the ceremony.
