CASEY businesses and community groups are set to benefit from decreased liquor licensing fees.
The State Government announced the changes to the fees last week.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region Liberal MP Inga Peulich said for Casey small businesses and community groups it meant liquor licensing fees would be more than halved.
She said the Baillieu Government promised during the election campaign to provide relief for local businesses.
The liquor licence fee reduction delivered on that commitment. Ms Peulich said restaurants and cafes including BYO, limited and restricted club licences and full club licences without gaming would also go down.
Ms Peulich said the State Government would also review fees for packaged liquor licences, to address any anomalies that had all packaged liquor outlets charged the same fee regardless of their size.
Licensees were sent a letter in December to explain the new fees and the due date, which has been extended to 31 March to accommodate the changes.
