Thieves steal

By Lia Bichel
The shock theft occurred at Myuna Farm on Kidds Road between 5pm on 22 January and 8.30am on 23 January.
Myuna Farm allows children and adults of all abilities to experience hands on contact with a variety of animals.
Police are searching for the culprits who gained entry to the feeding room by cutting the wires to the door and lock, and cutting the canary wire on the guinea pig breeding room door.
Five four-week old guinea pigs, and at least three six-month old rabbits, were stolen.
Police said the value of the animals was about $135.
City of Casey Manager Sport and Leisure Richard Amon said there had been several break-ins over the past week which involved the theft of rabbits and guinea pigs from their enclosures.
He was optimistic security tapes would help the police in their investigation.
“Police are currently investigating the incidents, including reviewing CCTV footage, which will hopefully identify the offenders,” Mr Amon said.
Mr Amon said the thefts had not affected the daily operation of the popular community facility.
“All the usual farm attractions are available for visitors to enjoy, open from 10am to 4pm every day of the year,” he said.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Senior Detective Simon Polson on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
