Police suspect link in fires

POLICE are checking out two fires in Doveton, which they believe may be linked.
The fires were lit within 10 minutes and one kilometre of each other.
About 3.15pm on 17 November, a fire was lit deliberately in a small storage area at the Betula Reserve sports hall. The CFA put it out but not before it destroyed some rugby equipment.
Ten minutes later the CFA was called to Ash Street after a resident noticed her side fence was on fire.
The blaze caused moderate damage to the fence and a large conifer also caught fire.
The CFA was called out again the next night when a red 1987 Holden Commodore sedan, believed to have been stolen from Dandenong Plaza, was set alight in Blaxland Avenue, Cranbourne North.
CFA crew saw two men wearing grey hoodies standing close to the car but the men ran off through Merinda Park when they realised they were being watched.
Anyone who saw or has any information on any of these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
