Canopy collapse

THREE men were injured after a canopy they were standing on collapsed at a Hallam worksite last week.
About 7.30am on Friday, paramedics arrived at the scene to find the men being cared for by workmates.
Intensive care paramedic David Kervin said the men were standing on a canopy structure on the side of a building, about six metres off the ground.
“Somehow the structure’s collapsed and they’ve fallen with the canopy onto a truck below. They landed on concrete and metal that was loaded on the back of the truck,” Mr Kervin said.
“The men had primarily suffered soft tissue injuries and some minor cuts. Thankfully all were in a stable condition.”
A 34-year-old man was taken to the Alfred Hospital with arm and leg injuries, a 28-year-old man was taken to the Alfred with minor chest and leg injuries and a 36-year-old man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with a cut to his wrist and lower leg injuries
Mr Kervin said all three men were treated for potential spinal injuries,
“Looking at the extent of the fall and what they landed onto, they’re extremely lucky that they didn’t sustain much more serious injuries to their heads and lower bodies,” he said.
