Nominate local hero

By Nicole Williams
CELEBRATE local volunteers by nominating them for the Holt Australia Day Award, to be presented on Australia Day next year.
Federal Holt MP Anthony Byrne is encouraging community, sporting and service organisations to nominate individuals who have made a significant contribution in a voluntary or philanthropic capacity
Mr Bryne said it is an honour to be able to thank the individuals who make a difference in the Holt community.
The 2009 Holt Australia Day Award recipient, Carlos Loyola, recently won the Order of Australia Medal for his service to disability sport, particularly at the Doveton Special Soccer School.
“Carlos is a great example of how one can make a profound difference in the lives of others less fortunate,” Mr Byrne said.
“Through his coaching and mentoring (he) has helped the confidence and courage of countless participants of Doveton Special Soccer School.”
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must live or work in the electorate of Holt.
Nominations are accepted online at www.anthonybyrnemp.com. For nomination via email, fax or mail contact the electorate office on 9796 7533
