RESIDENTS in the cities of Casey and Greater Dandenong could benefit from improved public transport following this weekend’s election.
The Labor Party announced this week that, if re-elected, they would invest $11.8 million to upgrade Route 841 and introduce a new bus service.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said the new service would connect Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre to Dandenong station via the Dandenong Oasis Leisure Centre and Dandenong Hospital.
“This great new service will operate every 20 minutes from 6am to 9pm, Monday to Friday and every 45 minutes weekends and Public Holidays, between 8am and 7pm,” Mr Donnellan said.
“The upgrade to Route 841, Narre Warren North to Cranbourne via Fountain Gate Shopping Centre and Narre Warren Station, will deliver increased service frequency, operating every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends”.
Mr Donnellan said the improvement would build on the $4.8 million investment for the implementation of six new bus routes and improvements to a further 10 routes, that are being delivered following the Casey/Cardinia/Greater Dandenong bus service reviews.
Last week Liberal candidates for Narre Warren South Gary Rowe and Narre Warren North Michelle Frazer said the State Government secretly reported that the 827 bus service would be withdrawn 15 days after the upcoming State Election.
Ms Frazer said the removal of the bus service would isolate many members of the community.
They invited Hallam and Narre Warren residents to sign a petition to keep bus services that run through Dandenong and Berwick. But Mr Donnellan said a re-elected Labor Party would see positive bus changes.
