Year 12 pair mean business

TWO Casey teenagers had an experience money can’t buy recently when they found out what it takes to run a multi-million dollar company.
Narre Warren’s Robert Condon, from Berwick Secondary College, and Hampton Park’s Ivana Trifkovic, who goes to Hampton Park Secondary College, were two of only 60 year 12 students to take part in the Australian Business Week event.
The event, hosted by Deakin University’s faculty of business and law in Geelong, was a two-year business cycle condensed into five days.
Robert and Ivana secured a scholarship through Australian Business Week – ranking them among the top year 12 students in Victoria in business related subjects.
The dean of the business faculty, Professor Philip Clarke, said the competition was not for the faint hearted.
He said the students experienced fierce competition, impossible deadlines, various marketing opportunities and tough business decision making through the weeklong course.
“It is certainly an action packed five days but one which past participants have found incredibly valuable,” Prof Clarke said.
“Students have talked about the fun they have had, their increased confidence and skills as well as the stimulation of working with business leaders,” he said.
The budding entrepreneurs listened to experienced and successful business leaders including Dianna Williams – co-founder and executive chairperson of Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs.
