Workshops boost

CASEY sporting clubs have been hampered by the drought but are set to benefit from free developmental workshops.
The next workshop, run by the City of Casey, will focus on helping clubs in the vital areas of grants, fund raising and sponsorship and will take place next month.
Casey manager arts and leisure Robyn Bowen said the original idea had been sparked from consultation with clubs during the Casey Sports Forum held earlier this year.
She said the first meeting, attended by representatives from 15 sporting clubs, was a great success.
“Sporting clubs highlighted the need for additional support and raised important topics they wanted to explore,” Ms Bowen said.
She said the feedback from the coaches, officials and administrators on the first workshop was terrific.
“David Hall, regional development manager at Cricket Victoria, ran the session, and his valuable insights and knowledge on running sporting-based committees was impressive,” Ms Bowen said.
“I strongly encourage club organisers to take part in this valuable session, which will discuss the types of issues vital to the success and future of most clubs,” she said.
