Woman foils bag snatch robbery

POLICE are investigating an attempted robbery at Hampton Park Shopping Centre last week.
It is believed an 18yearold woman was waiting for an available pay phone on Somerville Road about noon on Monday, 7 November when a man approached her and demanded cash.
She told the man she didn’t have any money at which point he tried to grab her handbag.
After a brief struggle the man fled empty handed on foot along Silvan Grove.
The man is described as Caucasian, between 35 and 40 years old, short and of medium build with a fair complexion, shoulder length brown hair, a dark moustache and goatee, and wearing a black tshirt, blue jeans and white runners.
Anyone who may have seen anything is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Senior Constable Lisa Stewart at Cranbourne police on 5995 4681.
