US trip a great experience

CONNOLLY Games volleyball team member Nicole Green said her trip to Springfield, Ohio, for the games last year was a memorable experience.
At the launch of an appeal to raise $30,000 to bring a team of young people from the town of Ermera, East Timor, to Casey for the Edwin Flack Games, Ms Green told guests even the plane trip was a great experience.
“I was one of nine selected on the team and we trained hard for months,” she said. “I had never been out of Australia and it was great to live with an American family for a week.
“We learnt the subtle differences in our cultures.
“We saw a baseball game and how supporters really got involved.
“We had the pleasure of meeting athletes from America and as well athletes on our own team.
“I found the bonds I formed and the memories of my trip to be incredible.
“It would be so great to give this opportunity to young people from Ermera. “It would be a wish that they may not even ask for,” she said.
