TRAIN services through Casey were disrupted for several hours on Monday night after a woman was hit and killed by a train near Berwick railway station.
Motorists were required to use alternative routes from about 7pm as police diverted traffic around the Clyde Road level crossing.
Members of the Berwick CFA assisted police.
A Connex spokesman said commuters were transported by bus from Dandenong to Pakenham while usual train services were halted.
V-Line passengers heading to Bairnsdale were taken by coaches.
Narre Warren Senior Sergeant Gerry Hengel said a report was being prepared for the coroner.
