A CLOSE friend’s battle with breast cancer has led a Hampton Park woman to start a wig hire service for those dealing with the disease.
But Karen Fearn of A & K Hair Pieces has also contacted local brothels in a bid to expand her clientele and showcase the broad range of wigs she has on offer.
The business idea first arose when Ms Fearn was helping her friend obtain a wig for an upcoming wedding, but they soon realised how hard it was to obtain quality wigs in the local area.
“My girlfriend got breast cancer and she didn’t want to walk down the aisle as matron of honour at my wedding bald,” said Ms Fearn.
Hope grew to frustration when they couldn’t find any wigs without having to travel to the city, so they turned to the internet to find a solution.
“We decided that there was a need to provide a service for people on this side of the city so we have set up the business,” she said.
The end result was a happy and amazing looking matron of honour who was thrilled with how the wig looked.
“She was so happy on the day and looked absolutely beautiful,” said Ms Fearn.
Each wig is hired out for four months at a cost of $60 with 40 different styles to choose from.
Further information can be obtained from A & K Hair Pieces on 9702 9076.
