TWO Berwick Secondary College students have been presented with state awards in recognition of their academic excellence.
Year 12 students Janelle Kenny and Andrew Wheeler were presented with a Premier’s Award at an official ceremony in Melbourne last month.
The pair achieved perfect scores in VCE subjects last year, with Ms Kenny excelling in legal studies and Mr Wheeler achieving academic success in information technology.
Proud teacher Kelly Beattie said all students who received top VCE marks in Victoria were than ranked, with the top five from each subject receiving the award.
Ms Beattie said both students undertook their year 12 subjects while completing year 11 and the award would spur them on to achieve even more this year.
“We are definitely proud as this is a huge recognition. They have put in a lot of hard work and we keep telling them that they now need to get another award at the end of this year. “It is very inspirational,” she said.
Premier Steve Bracks, Education Minister Lynne Kosky and the new Governor of Victoria David de Kretser attended the presentation.
