THE Casey TigerSharks emerged triumphant at the Eltham Swimming Club’s seventh annual short course state-qualifying meet at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre recently.
Casey won the trophy for the highest-ranked club, after taking home 14 medals – nine gold, two silver and three bronze.
It was an impressive effort by the TigerSharks, particularly as they were competing against 45 other swimming clubs.
The star of the meet was 16-year-old TigerShark Brad York, who took home six gold medals. He was victorious in the 100-metre individual medley, the 100 and 200-metre butterfly, the 50 and 100-metre freestyle, and the 100-metre backstroke.
Other medal winners included 13-year-old Craig Watson (three gold), 14-year-old Katie York (one silver and one bronze), 11-year-old Tyrone Dobrunz (one silver), ten-year-old Jake Bryant (one bronze) and 13-year-old Luke Drakeford (one bronze).
