Thieves ‘clean out’ factory

By Cam Scott
THIEVES made clean getaway from a Hallam factory last week, stealing a truck loaded with $150,000 worth of soap and detergent.
The red 1985 Kenworth prime mover, with a trailer, was taken between 6pm on Monday, 18 July and 5am Tuesday, 19 July from a factory on Hallam South Road in Hallam.
The truck, valued at $70,000, was later located on Macclesfield Road, Yellingbo, without the bounty of soap.
Police are calling on all businesses and residents to be wary of anyone selling the goods cheaply and in bulk.

CIGARETTES valued at $30,000 were stolen from a Doveton milk bar on Linden Place last week.
Thieves gained entry by smashing the front door between 9pm on Monday, 18 July and 4.45am the next morning. Also taken were phone cards, lollies, batteries and a cash register with cash.
Police said a vehicle would have been required to transport the $35,000 haul and are asking for witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
NARRE Warren detectives arrested two men at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre last Thursday, 21 July and have charged them with trafficking cannabis.
A 26yearold from Narre Warren and a 19yearold Hampton Park man are to appear at the Dandenong Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 August.

A BAG with a video camera and other goods was stolen from the Casey Aquatic Recreation Centre last Monday, 18 July.
The loss of the bag and its contents proved quite costly for a 32yearold mother who only realised the bag was missing after returning from swimming with her children between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
The bag was left near the wave pool and contained a video camera, a watch and jewellery valued at $6360.

A HOT water service was stolen from a Vert Avenue house in Narre Warren South while it was unoccupied for nearly a month.
The Rinnai Infinity hot water service was removed sometime between Tuesday, 5 July and Friday, 22 July. It is valued at $3000.
