A NARRE Warren South school threw its support behind Tyler Fishlock, the young boy who lost his sight to cancer, when it held a charity football event last Thursday.
Year 7 and 8 students at Narre Warren South P-12 College took part in a range of football-related activities to raise funds for the three-year-old who recently lost both eyes to a rare form of the disease.
Year 11 Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students organised the Homestead Football Day with all students giving a gold coin donation.
Young Tyler is an avid Richmond supporter and two players from the AFL club, Kane Pettifer and Troy Simmonds came along to help support the event.
Senior sub-school coordinator Rob Duncan said the event raised more than $700 and staff were set to donate more funds to the cause.
Mr Duncan said they were hoping to raise another $1000 when the school hosted another fundraising event later this month to help contribute to Tyler’s future education.
The second event will be held on Thursday, 15 June where a number of local schools will join to compete for the Tyler Fishlock-AND1 Trophy in Basketball tournament at the Sport for All Indoor Sports Stadium in Cranbourne.
