Students hit ground running with opening of playground

By Rebecca Fraser
STUDENTS at the new Berwick Fields Primary School were rearing to go on Tuesday when their playground was officially unveiled.
The new $6.1 million school, located in Centre Road, opened its doors last week, but students have spent their playtime on the basketball court and in the library, patiently waiting for the playground to be completed.
Principal Stephen Wigney said students were very excited and were looking forward to testing out their newest play area.
“They cannot wait to get on it.
“They had been playing with sports equipment on the basketball court and having quiet activities in the library while the playground was completed.
“It is great that the children will now have another play area as the playground is really suitable for both our older and younger students.
“Students are having great fun and the playground has come up just great,” he said.
The playground’s design was selected by the school community last term.
To help with the official celebrations, Westfield Fountain Gate provided colourful balloons and a stilt walker to add even more excitement to the day.
