Students aim for an encore

By Rebecca Fraser
ENCORE student performers at Hillcrest Christian College will take to the stage again next month following the sellout success of their recent school production.
Performing arts teacher Campbell RushtonSmith said the two plays held confronting messages and tackled issues such as low selfesteem and suicide.
He said all performers had been working extremely hard during lunch times and after school to rehearse the two original plays, and he was delighted that they had been invited to give an encore performance.
”The first play, A Splash of Colour, is about selfesteem and how each person is God’s unique creation with a purpose.
“The second play, This Dark World, is about a teenage girl and her struggles with depression,” he said.
Mr RushtonSmith said the words “compelling, enthralling and at times a little confronting” had been the common words used to describe the recent performances.
Admission is free to both performances, which start at 6pm on Sunday 9 October at Berwick Church of Christ, 432446 Centre Rd, Berwick.
