Stolen car involved in petrol thefts

A CAR stolen from Berwick railway station has been involved in at least four petrol drive-offs in the past two weeks.
The 1983 silver-green Holden Commodore sedan was taken from the station car park on Wednesday, 11 July.
Either the car’s registration plates or the vehicle has since been used in four separate petrol thefts.
The first crime occurred at the Narre Warren Quix service station on 13 July when the plates, SYJ 426, were used on an early model red Commodore.
The plates, on a different car again, were used on the same day to steal petrol from the Apco service station in Cranbourne North.
The Shell service station in Hallam was the next to get hit with the plates attached to a black Commodore on 22 July.
And a day later the original stolen car was used to steal petrol from a Coles Express service station in Narre Warren.
Narre Warren Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Garry Kear said police were keen to stop the string of crimes.
Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to contact Narre Warren Police on 9705 3114.
