Set sale for a good night

By Rebecca Fraser
PARENTAL power is helping to protect Hillcrest Christian College students from the elements.
The Clyde North school will host a night market on Friday 9 September to help raise funds for shade sails for the school’s quadrangles.
Organised by the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) committee, the market will include face painting, mystery dips, sausage sizzles and more than 50 market stalls.
Committee member Anna Marson, whose daughter Olivia attends the school, said she had already helped organise night markets at her daughter’s kindergarten that had proved very successful.
“If the parents get behind it this could be one of many markets,” Ms Marson said.
“ They are just so much fun everyone can come along and it is a good way to raise funds,” she said.
Eight members of the PFA, including Mavis Beck and president Sharon Bould, have organised the event.
Ms Marson said it was important that students were protected from both the sun and wintry weather.
“ In summer the sails will help protect the kids from the sun and in winter it will mean that they can still come out and play and have some shelter from the rain,” she said.
Market stalls on the night will sell party plans such as jewellery, Tupperware, undercover ware as well as craft, natural cleaning products, cosmetics and children’s clothing.
The market runs from 6pm10pm at Hillcrest Christian College, Soldiers Rd, Clyde North.
