Set for big time

IT’S lights, cameras, action at Casey Fields with the official opening of the VFL stadium and the first home game of the Casey Scorpions set to take place on Saturday.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford has encouraged residents to come along and inspect Casey Fields. “The first home game of the Casey Scorpions will be an exciting event, so bring along the family, watch the match and take some time to see the other wonderful features at Casey Fields,” Cr Bradford said.
“There is always lots of ways to fill in a day at this amazing facility, like having a picnic on the Village Green, wandering along the wetland trails, riding a bike along the criterium track or getting involved in one of the many sports,” he said.
The Scorpions are set to fight it out with VFL rivals the Box Hill Hawks and local sports fans can witness the action from the new VFL pavilion and grandstand, which will be officially opened by Premier Steve Bracks at 12.30pm.
There will be half-time food, fun and entertainment for everyone.
Entrance is free to Casey Fields but entry to the VFL game is $9 for adults, $5 concession or for pensioners, free for children under 15 and members of the Casey Scorpions and St Kilda football flubs (on presentation of membership card).
