SESto show its secrets

THE Narre Warren State Emergency Service (SES) will open its door this Sunday and allow the public to find out what makes the vital organisation tick.
Several demonstrations will be conducted throughout the day with visitors set to see how SES volunteers go about different rescue scenarios.
SES members will also be on hand to answer questions from those who may be interested in joining the Vesper Drive-based team.
Narre Warren SES media officer Kanny Lee encouraged as many people as possible to come to the open day.
“It’s really for people to see who we are and what we do down here,” Ms Lee said.
“You can just come down and ask some questions. We will also be doing a few demonstrations.”
Ms Lee said people could also find information about becoming a SES volunteer.
The group is looking for people to become members of their duty and day crews as well as non-operational members to assist with public relations and other administration tasks.
Ms Lee said there were many benefits for individuals involved in the SES including learning new skills, making new friends and becoming part of a well-respected emergency service team.
She said 15 people signed up at the last open day after seeing the friendly environment on offer.
The Narre Warren SES open day will take place this Sunday, 29 April from 10am.
The unit is located at 36A Vesper Drive, Narre Warren.
