Rubbish bins set ablaze

THREE rubbish bins were set alight behind the Berwick Community Centre early Saturday morning with an unknown accelerant.
Police said the incident occurred between 1.45am and 2.05am and it was lucky the fire did not spread to the Parkhill Drive centre.
The bins were destroyed and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Steve Gaskan on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was assaulted in the Casey Central Shopping Centre car park between 12.30am and 1am last Saturday.
Police said the man had gone to the Narre Warren South car park to meet someone when he was set upon by three other men.
The man was punched and kicked and sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
He received minor facial injuries, bruises and a blood nose.
He left his mobile phone at the scene.

A WOORI YALLOCK woman has been interviewed in relation to the theft of thousands of dollars from her workplace.
The 26-year-old who works at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre allegedly stole the money between February and April.
Police said she would be charged on summons with 16 counts of obtaining property by deception.
A 35-YEAR-OLD Doveton man was arrested on Saturday morning after two businesses in Linden Place Doveton were robbed.
Police said a man entered Santos Pizza about 6am before kicking in a glass door and entering the nearby charcoal chicken shop.
A man has been charged with burglary and theft. He is due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday).

THREE homes in Endeavour Hills were targeted by thieves last Friday with jewellery, mobile phones and a lap top computer stolen.
A home in Bootie Court was robbed between 6am and 4pm when a sliding door was forced open with a shovel found in the backyard.
A large quantity of jewellery and five mobile phones were taken. The goods were valued at $2000.
In another incident a Hardman Court home was broken into when a window was forced open between 8am and 11pm.
Police believe a hand-made meat cleaver found at the scene was used to gain entry.
A digital camera, cash and loose change were taken.
A Charles Green Avenue home was also targeted on the same day between 9am and 5.15pm when a bathroom window was smashed.
Jewellery valued at $500, including a necklace and earrings, were taken.
