A NARRE Warren South teenager has been recognised for her outstanding community leadership skills.
Year 11 student Brooke Jarvis was recently presented with a Youth Leadership Award by the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills as part of Rotary’s New Generation Month of September.
The annual award is given to students in Year 10 and was based on Ms Jarvis’s contribution to Eumemmerring Secondary College Endeavour Hills Campus last year.
Ms Jarvis was selected by local school teachers for showing exceptional community leadership qualities.
Ms Jarvis’s parents John and Sue accompanied her to the presentation at a Rotary Club meeting and she said the award had pleasantly surprised her.
“I did not expect the award but it was a nice surprise.
“I was presented with the award because I helped organise a fundraiser to convert our old gymnasium into a theatre and other events such as Red Nose Day, “she said.
Ms Jarvis received a framed certificate acknowledging her achievements from the president of the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills Harry Hornstra.
Her name has been engraved into a perpetual wall plaque that is displayed in the office of Eumemmerring College.
Past president Martin Pater instigated the award some years ago and said he believed the youth of today deserved support and encouragement in their endeavour to achieve.
