TRANSPORT Minister Peter Batchelor visited Endeavour Hills last Friday to inspect the site of the Hallam Road duplication works that started this month.
Mr Batchelor said the duplication of the existing road between the Hallam bypass and north of James Cook Drive would improve traffic flow and provide a safer journey for local motorists.
“I am delighted that construction has commenced on this very important road in the City of Casey. The duplication will greatly improve safety, mobility and access for residents and drivers,” he said.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan also inspected the site.
He said the works would improve traffic flow between the Hallam bypass and Heatherton Road, improving road safety and access to local community facilities.
The duplication will include separate bicycle lanes behind the kerb to provide a high level of safety for cyclists.
The intersection with BelgraveHallam Road will be realigned to create a Tintersection with traffic lights.
Mr Donnellan said the lights would improve safety at the intersection, which is used by more than 20,000 vehicles each day.
Traffic signals will also be provided at the James Cook Drive intersection.
