TRANSPORT Minister Peter Batchelor visited Casey yesterday (Wednesday) to officially open the $8.9 million duplication of Berwick-Cranbourne Road (Clyde Road) between Cresthaven Boulevard and Pound Road.
Mr Batchelor said the project was the next stage of the Cranbourne Bypass, which involved duplicating Berwick-Cranbourne Road between the Princes Freeway at Berwick and the South Gippsland Highway at Cranbourne.
“The duplication will improve traffic flow in the area and greatly improve safety, mobility and access for residents and motorists who travel between the Princes Freeway, Cranbourne and the surrounding areas,” Mr Batchelor said.
Narre Warren South MP Dale Wilson and Cranbourne MP Jude Perera also attended the official opening.
Mr Wilson said the duplication would benefit students and parents of two local schools, St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School and St Francis Xavier College, which had a combined enrolment of more than 1300 students.
“A signalised intersection on Berwick-Cranbourne Road at the Moondarra Drive-Meadowlands Way intersection now provides safer access to the schools via Meadowlands Way,” Mr Wilson said.
