NOMINATIONS for Casey’s Community Volunteer Awards officially opened on International Day of Volunteers last Tuesday week.
City of Casey manager youth and community development Janette Green said the awards recognised the contributions Casey volunteers had made to local community organisations.
Community Volunteer Awards will be presented to the most outstanding volunteers in family and community support, sport and recreation, arts and cultural activities, environment and conservation, and young volunteer.
In addition, an Innovation Award will be presented to a community organisation, group or business that implements innovative projects, programs or partnerships that encourage volunteering and community participation.
“We are very fortunate in Casey to have such high numbers of dedicatedpeople who give selflessly of their time, skills and knowledge for the betterment of the whole community,” Ms Green said.
“This good work, and the inspiration it provides others, deserves to be formally recognised.
“I encourage everyone to take action and nominate an outstanding volunteer they know.”
Nominations for the Community Volunteer Awards close at 5pm on Thursday, 1 March.
