Rain ends turf games

CRANBOURNE Cricket Club’s Turf One and Turf Three games were drawn at the weekend after persistent rain washed out play.
A GRADE
Cranbourne (159) went down to St Mary’s (9/206) by 47 runs. Leigh Angus made a hard-fought 66 opening the batting and remained at the crease for most of the innings before being the ninth wicket to fall.
C GRADE
Cranbourne scored 164 and had an exciting 13-run victory against Buckley Ridges (151), Brad Stephens making a solid 55 at number three to see the team home.
D GRADE
Cranbourne chased Berwick’s 173 but was bowled out for 125, going down by 48 runs, the main contributor being opener Mark Andolfatto with 74.
E GRADE
The star of the round in Cranbourne’s great nine-run victory was Glen Dickinson, who took seven wickets on the first week and backed it up with 104 not out on Saturday. Cranbourne (157) defeated Narre Warren (148).
ONE-DAY GRADE
HSD (147) downed Cranbourne (118) by 29 runs, M. Fraser and D. Matheson taking three wickets apiece.
UNDER 17
There were several contributions in under-17 grades, including Anthony Ciconte’s fiery eight-over spell, which yielded 5/9 in under 17(1) grade, together with under 17(2) batsmen Martin Kelly and Steven Henry, who top-scored with 28 apiece.
UNDER 15
J. Fitzgerald (3/3), W. Hameeteman (2/7), B. Hall (2/9) and D. McDonell (2/4) returned impressive figures in under 15(1) and under 15(2) Blue grades. Bowlers Sameera Wickramasinghe (3/6) and Troy Kimball (2/11) also had good days.
UNDER 13
In a tight finish Cranbourne’s under-13(1) side got over the line by four runs defending 140. There were outstanding individual efforts of 26 not out by J. Adams in under 13(2) Blue, 4/7 by M. Hookey in under 13(2) and 50 by Sam Smith in the under 13(3) grade.
UNDER 11 GOLD
Golds bowlers Trent Stoneman (1/5), Todd Reynolds (1/19) and Bradley Greenbugh (1/10) had good games.
