Play for days

By Lia Bichel
Mums under the age of 25 and children up to the age of five are encouraged to join a newly located playgroup, run by Barbara Biggelaar and funded by City of Casey’s Best Start.
The program has moved from the Parent Zone centre to St John’s Anglican Church Hall, Cranbourne, providing children with more room for activities.
“The new venue is great,” Ms Biggelaar said. “There are two playrooms, a kitchen, an outdoor play area, and a lot of resources for children and their parents.”
The playgroup is designed specifically for young mums and children, giving them and their children an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
“Children get to learn how to interact with other children, and participate in activities which will help with their development,” Ms Biggelaar said.
“Sometimes mums can get lonely, so it also gives mums a chance to socialise. They can chat to other mums about what it’s like to be a parent and share ideas and advice.”
The program runs every Tuesday, from 12.45pm until 2.45pm. The cost is free and snacks are provided.
