Photographer to the rescue

By Callan Date
A LOCAL photographer has come to the rescue of a Berwick family who spent $500 on professional portraits that were never printed.
Abby Studios owner Gordon Poole said he wanted to give some credibility back to his profession after reading about Sandra Solari’s plight in the Berwick News last month.
Ms Solari paid $500 for Kidz 2000 Photography Australia to take professional photos of her four sons.
The photos were meant to be a Mother’s Day gift for several members of the Solari family. However, those plans went wrong when the company went into administration in May.
But Mr Poole offered his services free of charge.
“I really want to help these people out. We are really going to do something exceptional for them,” he said.
And that pledge was honoured last Sunday as Mr Poole took several portrait style shots of the family. “The family saw every shot and we were all very happy with how it turned out.
“The images will be done within a few days for the family,” he said.
Ms Solari said she was extremely grateful for the offer.
“He spent about two hours with us, trying to get the best shots,” she said. “It all went really well. It was a very generous offer that was gratefully appreciated.”
Ms Solari said she would be getting the photos printed and passing them on to family as belated Mother’s Day gifts.
A spokesman for Andrew Dunner and Associates, the company handling the administration of Kidz 2000 Photography Australia, said they were still working through the lengthy process.
He said a meeting had been held with the creditors of the company to work out the next step in the administration process.
He said about 70 customers had been left out of pocket by the collapse of the company.
