Parents get a skills primer

PARENTS from all walks of life have been invited to attend a workshop in Berwick next month to focus on their parenting skills.
Divorced, single, non-custodial and custodial parents, stepparents and widows or widowers with children have been urged to attend the workshop at the Berwick Church of Christ on Saturday, 3 June.
The event will look at respect, boundaries, discipline, a child’s perspective, communication, control, teenagers, time conflict and consistency.
Speakers on the day will be Casey councillor Lorraine Wreford, a single parent of boys, Pastor Dave Marrett of the Berwick Church of Christ’s Children’s and Families Ministry, who was previously a single parent and is now in a blended family.
Mike Appleby, who has previously been a single parent but now works with children from single-parent and blended families, will also be a guest speaker.
The workshop will run from 12.45 to 5pm at 446 Centre Road, Berwick.
The cost is $2, which includes afternoon tea.
