THE finest of Casey’s people and events are set to be recognised with nominations for Citizen of the Year awards now open.
Residents are being asked to identify the high-achievers in their local community who have made a difference to Casey.
Nominations for the Citizen, Young Citizen, Senior Citizen and Non-Resident of the Year close on 24 November with Community Event of the Year closing on 5 January.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said being nominated for an award was a great achievement in itself.
“Most of us know someone who has contributed their knowledge, time and talents to benefit our community,” Cr Bradford said.
“Nominating that person for a Casey Citizens of the Year Award will enable them to be recognised at a wider level where they can share their experiences and inspire others.”
All eligible nominations are recognised and provide a great way to celebrate an individual’s ongoing contribution to the Casey community. Winners will be announced at a special ceremony on Australia Day next year.
Current Casey Young Person of the Year Shannon Barnes, who recently waved off the MRA Cranbourne GP Run, said the honour had provided her with many amazing experiences.
Nominations forms are available from council’s customer service centres or by calling 9705 5200.
