NARRE Warren netballers now have a place to call home.
The Narre Warren Football Netball Club is celebrating new extensions worth more than $450,000.
Netball co-ordinator Chris Donaldson told the News the club’s players, aged from 10 to 40, were thrilled with the extension.
The recent works include change rooms, a meeting room, an office, kitchen, gym, toilets, storage area and a function room.
“Some of the players thought it was great that they could have a shower after the games last weekend,” Ms Donaldson said.
“The works have added a special feeling to the club. We now feel like we belong.”
Ms Donaldson said that at one stage the netballers were forced to train in the dark and use car headlights to light up the sporting area.
“The following year we received portable lights,” she said.
The netball club has been operating at the Fox Road complex for six years, since it became compulsory for all competitive football clubs within the Casey Cardinia league of the MPNFL to field netball teams.
The netball club’s first season was back in 2004.
Ms Donaldson said the club currently had 60 netball members, with the football membership topping 140.
