Narre North bowlers fire

RESULTS were encouraging for Narre North Cricket Club at the weekend, producing two senior and three junior wins.
C GRADE
Narre North was beaten by a good Berwick side. Defending 182, Narre North’s bowlers toiled hard but couldn’t contain Berwick’s batsmen, who amassed 5/216 by the end of the second day.
D GRADE
Having dismissed Narre Warren for 73 on the first week, Narre North declared 8/165, promising junior Mat Ruprecht making 49. In the second innings Narre Warren was 9/224 and the best of Narre North’s bowlers were Tristin Scott (5/65 including a hat-trick and Steve Dodman (3/38).
E GRADE
Narre North won on first innings by 75 runs. Having dismissed Berwick for 95, Narre North was struggling at 5/64 before a great 107-run partnership between John Edwards (47) and Nick Long (46) led the way to 171.
ONE-DAY GRADE
At Kalora Park, Narre North contained Coomoora to 190, thanks to a fiery spell by Randal Schmolling (3/23) and the nagging medium pace of Teddy Robinson, who took 2/15 in his farewell performance for the club. But this target proved too much, Narre North struggling to make 152 with Martin Dinsdale (45) the only batsman willing to risk life and limb by getting behind the line.
UNDER 17
Narre North (110) played well, although recording a loss to St Mary’s (145). Good batting by Mat Ruprecht (60 not out) and bowling by Scott Dinsdale (3/29) highlighted the game for Narre North.
UNDER 15(1)
Chasing Berwick’s 199, Narre North started with a 57-run partnership between Stuart Patterson (18) and Rukmal Widyananda, who continued to a fine 50 not out. But the target proved too much, Narre North finishing the day 7/138 in a great game played in poor conditions.
UNDER 15(2)
Set 146 to win by Berwick, Narre North batted poorly to be dismissed for 23. Asked to bat again, Narre North struggled to 6/55 at the close.
UNDER 15(3)
With 124 on the board and Cranbourne resuming 4/60, Narre North had no luck and Cranbourne made 224 before being dismissed. Best of the bowlers was Sahil Sahib, who took 3/27. Asked to bat again, Narre North finished the day 5/81 with Joel Grant (17 not out) and Sahib (15 not out) working hard to avoid outright defeat.
UNDER 13(1)
After a fine batting display to make 199, Narre North bowled out Fountain Gate for 142 to record an excellent win by 57 runs. Fine bowling by Shawn Fernando (3/7), Chris Edwards (2/8) and Chayce Lynch (2/4), complemented by good catching, contributed to a superb all-round team effort and a win.
UNDER 13(2)
Narre North worked hard to defend its first-innings total of 54, but it was always going to be a hard ask against a good side. Best players were Jake Calvert, Harrison Mclean and Elliot Mintor.
UNDER 13(3)
Narre North defended its 139 by dismissing Maranatha Methodist for 60. The bowling was tight, Dale Hill (2/4), Joshua Dowling (2/5) and Anthony Ruprecht (2/1) being the best, and they were well backed up by the fieldsmen, who contributed three run outs.
UNDER 11
In a brilliant team effort, great fielding and wonderful batting won Narre North’s match against Fountain Gate by 14 runs. Best of the batsmen was captain Josh Presta, who made a gritty 38 to lead the side home.
