Murder phone tap delay

LAWYERS representing the six men charged over a Narre Warren North murder have asked for an extra week to decipher telephone intercepts.
Magistrate Peter Reardon heard last Friday that police phone taps would form a considerable part of the prosecution case against the men charged with Michael Daou’s murder.
Mr Daou, 22, was killed by several gunshot wounds to his upper body before his body was burnt in the boot of a car on 18 November last year.
Prosecutor Chris Ryan said the trial could take between five to 10 days with up to a dozen witnesses being called to testify in court.
Mr Reardon heard that more than 100 telephone recordings would be presented as evidence during the trial.
Endeavour Hills resident Kevin Ng, 22, was one of seven men to appear before Mr Reardon for a committal mention at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
Ng is charged with murder, kidnap, unlawful imprisonment and drug offences.
Adam Hargrave, 26, of Docklands, Aaron Mark Hargrave, 24, of Port Phillip Prison, Ngoc Bui, 21, of Frankston, Andrew Johnston, 25, of Docklands and Quoc Bui, 24, of Dandenong, were also each charged with murder, kidnap and unlawful imprisonment.
Adam Hargrave is also charged over a range of drug offences.
Hargrave’s father, Mooroolbark resident Garry Charles Hargrave, 51, is charged with kidnap, being an accessory to murder, unlawful imprisonment and drug offences.
Mr Reardon remanded all six men in custody to appear in court tomorrow (Friday). – Callan Date
