Milestone for Casey little aths

CASEY Little Athletics Centre will celebrate 20 years of competition on Thursday, 26 January.
This will be at an athletics-fun day in conjunction with Dandenong and District Little Athletics Club at the Edwin Flack Reserve in Berwick. All currently registered athletes from Casey and Dandenong are invited to compete in an athletics program on the day.
Several events will also be run for adult ex-athletes and parents.
The centre has also arranged an extensive range of fun activities, particularly for the under-three-under eight age group.
Special guests will attend a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate Australia Day.
Casey is now embarking on its fifth year of operation as a centre at the Edwin Flack Reserve and during this time the number of registered athletes has increased from approximately 150 to 480.
This season will mean that it will be 20 years since the group, originally named Berwick Village Athletics Centre, was formed.
For 15 years Berwick competed at the Dandenong Centre and has invited Dandenong to help mark this milestone.
Both Dandenong and Berwick Village life members, past committee members, coaches and past athletes have been invited to take part in the celebrations.
The Casey/Berwick Village Athletics Club has produced many region, state and national athletic champions.
Last season athletes from the centre won several medals in both track and field and cross-country.
The club has also provided the opportunity for about 3000 children and their families to compete in fair athletic competition, to form long life friendships, to develop a sense of good sportsmanship and to participate in their community.
