DEVON Meadows speed machine Meticulous took the crowd’s breath away with a flying win in the invitation-only Group 1 Sky Channel Topgun over 525 metres at The Meadows on Saturday night.
Meticulous landed a $125,000 first prize for one of Australia’s most successful owner-breeders, Paul Westerveld, who is known as a pedigree purist, and Meticulous is a product of his precise breeding.
Prepared by Westerveld’s close friend Mario Briganti, Meticulous notched his second Group 1 victory, having also won the Silver Chief at the Broadmeadows track, the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association headquarters, in January.
The greyhound has also won the Group 2 Traralgon Cup and been a finalist in the Group 1 Winter Carnival Cup in Brisbane, the Group 1 Paws of Thunder in Sydney and the Group 2 The Temlee at The Meadows.
He was also a reserve for the Group 1 National Sprint Championship final.
Meticulous has raced on 36 occasions for 16 wins, eight seconds and three thirds, bringing his career earnings to $268,260.
