THEY may have named their band after an antidepressant drug but members of the Endeavour Hills band EFXR are upbeat about their future.
The allmale band came together in June 2003 when lead guitarist Kane Jeffreys, bass guitarist Justin Gagalowicz and vocalist Michael Cloney formed the band during their days at Eumemmerring Secondary College in Hallam.
Drummer Ben Moriarty joined the group more than a year ago and since then the hard rock and metal band has played at many wellknown Melbourne nightspots, drawing a strong following.
Mr Gagalowicz said the band were working hard in the studio, recording their debut EP at Pony Music in Hallam and another studio in Rowville. Their music has already received airplay on radio stations such as PBS106.7 FM.
Mr Gagalowicz said the band had composed 10 original songs, taking much inspiration from bands like Metallica, Motorhead and System Of A Down.
Mr Gagalowicz studies food science and nutrition at Victoria University and said he was looking forward to their next “major gig” performing during O Week, at the university’s Footscray campus.
The group has played at benefit concerts, such as one for a little girl who had a terminal illness and for a man that was seriously injured in a car accident.
