Meet Mr and Mrs ‘right’

Berwick couple Nancy and Jack Wright.Berwick couple Nancy and Jack Wright.

A BERWICK couple celebrating 60 years of marriage has told of how fortunate they have been to call Australia home.
Jack and Nancy Wright tied the knot in London, England on 25 July, 1947 – and 60 years later family and friends from all over the world have travelled to Melbourne to help celebrate their milestone.
The couple first met while working in a factory during World War II. Jack was on leave from the navy and Nancy was helping with the war effort on the industrial line.
Jack said the couple, who have four children, left England for the shores of Australia in 1958.
“We use to go roller skating and dancing a lot when we were young. I wish we could still do that,” Nancy said with a laugh.
She said the couple had been living in Berwick for the past year and had thoroughly enjoyed the warm community feel of the place.
“Australia has been very good to us. Berwick is our last stop. The people here are so very friendly. They can’t do enough for you.”
And as for a tip on the eternal love she and Jack share:
“If you have an argument you should just go to a different room. One go one way and the other go the other way.
“We also have such a good family. They have been very good to us,” Nancy said.
