Mayor named on radio board

CASEY Council is tuned to the right frequency when it comes to the city’s local radio station.
Councillors at last week’s council meeting voted to appoint the mayor as an ex-officio member of Casey Radio 3SER.
Councillor Rob Wilson moved the motion, which also resulted in a councillor to be nominated as a delegate to radio station’s board each year.
Cr Wilson will be the initial appointee until November 2007.
He said Casey Radio 3SER, which can be heard at 97.7 on the FM dial, was a prime vehicle to promote the City of Casey to residents and visitors.
“This appointment will allow the mayor of the day to attend committee meetings,” Cr Wilson said.
The station, which is based in the Cranbourne Library facility, broadcasts a range of community service, sports, ethnic, religious and musical programs to about 300,000 people in the south-east.
