Cranbourne RSL member Greg Cheyne and daughter Emily take part in Cranbourne's Anzac Day service last year.Cranbourne RSL member Greg Cheyne and daughter Emily take part in Cranbourne’s Anzac Day service last year.

CASEY residents are being encouraged to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by Australian defence force personnel this Anzac Day.
Several ceremonies will be held throughout Casey on 25 April and mayor Colin Butler wants local citizens to get together and recognise the importance of the nationwide day.
“Anzac Day represents one of the most significant moments of our nation’s history – the anniversary of the first major military action by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) forces and their heroic efforts during World War I,” he said.
Cr Butler said Anzac Day was an ideal opportunity to get together and recognise the sacrifices that soldiers made, as well as commemorating the efforts of all service personnel who have served Australia in conflicts since.
“Commemorative services will be held across Casey and throughout the state and I encourage residents to take part and honour the courage and spirit of our Anzacs and other servicemen and women,” he said.
In addition to events on Anzac Day, on Monday, 23 April at 2pm there will be a special commemorative service at the Endeavour Hills memorial.
At the corner of Matthew Flinders Avenue and Heatherton Road, this event organised by the Dandenong RSL sub-branch and will include a speech from Cr Butler and performances by St Paul Apostle South students.
