BERWICK resident Kelly Rogerson is living her weight loss dream.
The mother of three has lost more than 55 kilograms and has been named the Victorian winner in the Weight Watchers Healthy Life Awards 2010.
Picked from more than 800 applicants, she is one of five finalists in the running to the win the Australian title.
“It’s a real honour to be named the Healthy Life Awards winner for Victoria,” Ms Rogerson said.
A shocking moment in March 2007 provided the 38-year-old with the final trigger she needed to change her life.
She stepped aside for a ‘big girl’ coming through the shopping centre sliding doors only to realise it was her own reflection.
“I was finding everything so challenging. Once you get to a size 26, there is no where else to go,” she said.
However, she said her biggest trigger was wanting to be a good role model for her three young children.
With a starting weight of 134kg, Ms Rogerson cut down her portion sizes and stepped up her exercise.
The birth of her third daughter stalled her progress but did not stop her. Her transformation took a total of two years.
Weight Watchers spokeswoman Clair Cameron put her support behind Ms Rogerson at the Australian finals in Sydney.
“Kelly’s perseverance, putting her health and wellbeing first, to fight and win a life long battle with her weight is an inspiration to all Victorians who are seeking a healthier lifestyle,” Ms Cameron said.
The Australian winner of the Healthy Life Awards will be announced in Sydney on 24 November.
Ms Rogerson is in the running to win a seven night all-inclusive holiday for two to a Golden Health Retreat in the Gold Coast or the Hunter Valley, valued at $15,000.
