Looking to the future

NEARLY 3000 children flocked to Berwick recently for the City of Casey’s annual Primary School Environment Expo.
The three-day event saw students from more than 20 Casey schools take part in numerous environmental activities with 18 service providers in attendance.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the grade three to six students had enjoyed learning about aboriginal artwork and had also learnt about aquatic ecosystems and water saving methods.
The EPA also attended and Bunnings warehouse also conducted planting workshops with students who then took home their own shrub.
Cr Bradford said all students had completed a questionnaire following the expo and the feedback had been positive.
“This was a great opportunity for students to learn about the environment.
“These students are tomorrow’s leaders and it is important that they understand the importance of a healthy environment.
“They could then go home and share what they have learnt with their mums or dads and become more environmentally responsible at home,” he said.
