Loan shines a light

CASEY Council has said it would act as a guarantor on a $50,000 loan for the Maranatha Methodist Cricket Club (MMCC) if certain provisions are met.
The loan would be used to purchase training lights and turf wicket for Strathaird Reserve in Narre Warren South.
The move follows a recent internal stoush at the Narre South Lions Sports Club after a small business owner says he was left $30,000 out of pocket after he made the training lights but was not paid.
The council has agreed to provide the MMCC with a letter of support in its application for a loan to Bendigo Bank for the provision of training lights and turf wicket at Strathaird Reserve indicating that the council was prepared to act as a guarantor for the loan. The loan would be based on the provision and assessment of the MMCC’s financial situation and a business plan to demonstrate that the club would be able to generate the funds needed to meet the loan repayments.
