THE first Victorian exhibition of the Kevin Hill’s TOP TEN Australian Artists Art Show has been deemed a resounding success after attracting more than 1000 people from across Victoria.
Held in the City of Casey Civic Centre on the weekend of 1011 September, it was the first time in the show’s 25year history that it had been exhibited outside New South Wales.
City of Casey mayor Neil Lucas congratulated Kevin Hill, the exhibiting artists and the community for such a successful event.
“Kevin Hill has worked tirelessly with the exhibiting artists and Council staff to bring this amazing display of our country’s best artistic diversity to Victoria,” Cr Lucas said.
“It is important that artwork of this calibre is made accessible to people outside the metropolitan area.
“We are very proud that Casey, as Victoria’s largest and most vibrant municipality, had the privilege of hosting this fantastic exhibition,” he said.
At the show, visitors chatted with the artists and enjoyed a stunning range of paintings and sketches, including Ian Hansen’s marine images, the lifelike bird paintings of Paul Margocsy, and the outback caricatures of Max Mannix.
The works of Bill Ambagtsheer, Kevin Best, Adam Bogusz, John Dynon, Werner Filipich, Pro Hart, Otto Kuster, Leonard Long, Gary Myers, John Vander, and special guest artists Di King and Janet Matthews were also exhibited.
Local resident Lauren Matthews won the door prize, a $3,000 Kevin Best painting depicting wild horses in the bush.
