Ms Matthews said she was very excited to have the opportunity to exhibit alongside some of Australia’s most renowned artists, including Max Mannix and Pro Hart.
“The Kevin Hill’s Top Ten Australian Artists Art Show is a showcase of amazing work by our country’s best artistic exports,” she said.
“I am very proud to hang my creations beside such renowned works.”
City of Casey’s manager of arts and leisure, Robyn Bowen, said Ms Matthews is a prime example of the amazing talent that Casey has to offer.
“I encourage all residents to take the time to attend the exhibition and see what Australia’s best artists have to offer,” she said.
Ms Matthews’ individual style combines coloured pencil and graphite to create realistic, detailed and gentle drawings that reflect her personality, humour, life experiences and love of wildlife.
Her love of drawing and her rapport with ‘critters’ is evident in her portrayal of animals and birds, either in their natural environment or cohabiting in suburbia.
Drawing them in family groups, in pairs of “friends” or in action and play, she somehow manages to capture their personality in her work.
The exhibition is free with most works for sale. Visitors have the chance to win an artwork by Kevin Best valued at $3000.
